Title: The Metal-Torrents.com Call to Arms
...and after much time, and as the growing pains cease, the M-T tracker chugs along, a well oiled machine, ready do do it's job, and your bidding.
So here we are. Most of the changes have been made, most tweaks tweaked, that which is left is a vessel. A great vessel upon which you can all share and spread the music that joins us.
Imperfect, however, as are all things, the vessel needs fuel.
What fuel you ask?
You.
This Metal-Torrents.com tracker and community IS you. It is nothing without you, and it is what you all make of it. The hard work is done, and all that is left is you guys making the most of it.
And you are vital. The tracker, nay the site as a whole, needs all of you to go on. A tracker without a community is nothing.
So this is the official declaration to you all. Do your part. Make this the best it can be.
How is not very difficult. Some of you do it already, but more is always better. Some don't know how, but the means are just a few clicks away.
I. Share. Simple. You sort of have to regardless, but seeding torrents is a must. Especially for those who don't upload much themselves, seeding is a vital part. Obviously it's giving back what you've downloaded, but think of it like this. The long you seed, the better an uploader's torrent does, and the quicker he can happily upload more for everyone to enjoy. By seeding you indirectly allow more music to be uploaded.
II. Uploading. Have something new? Unique? Local? Personal favorite? Something requested? Up it. You never know who out there will want it. When all else fails, up it. The tracker is nothing without a constant flow of music. That said, if you are going to upload something, put some effort into it. Keeping standards high is integral.
III. Donating. Sadly, M-T has costed and continues to cost (a considerable amount of) money to run, reshape, and maintain, and those costs will only continue to rise. Your donations help keep this place running, growing, and getting better, and every one is appreciated.
IV. Spread it. A tracker needs people to work. You guys know the people who could use this place. Tell them. Any way you can. Forums, friends, and heck if you know what you're doing uploading things to mass tracker engines a la Mininova and isohunt (don't attempt if you don't know what you are doing. Users of those sites will take over your PID and cause a world of hurt for you). Digg it, anything. Get people you know love metal to come here, and partake.
Share, enjoy, and make the most of it guys. It's been a hard road and this is the time to revel in it all. Spread the metal. m/

Title: Ratio System .1 is in place.
Per the usual, it's beta, possibly/likely will be changed, tweaked, and may very well implode and collapse upon itself causing a catastrophic black hole, but I'm hoping for the best.
It's simple. Maintain a ratio of, as of now, greater than .75, and you'll be able to DL torrents. Get below that, and you won't and can only upload new torrents. Like I said, simple.
What about new users who may download something and are unable to seed it? Well all new users are given a head start of 1.5 gigs to get ahead of the curb. You gotta do a WHOLE lot of unseeded DLing to get in the hole after that.
Existing users? Well most of you guys are a-ok. If you're now unable to download stuff and feel it's unfair, get in touch with me via PM or post at the forums, and on a case by case basis I'll possibly reset your stats to that of a new user. But, it's a case by case basis. Chances are if you've downloaded 4 gigs and seeded 30 megs, yer shit out of luck. I told you to seed. You were warned.
Per the usual, if there's any issues, comments, feedback, or you just wanna say hello and tell me I'm awesome. You can do so at the forums.
Have fun kiddies.

Title: Ratios and you.
More docs are to come, but for now I just want to remind you guys to keep an eye on your ratios. They will be enforced at some point, and you will be dealt with if you're leeching. Things can be tough which is why nothing' being done yet, but trust me, yet is the prime word there. Blatant leechers will absolutely not have a blind eye turned to then. There are no excuses.
It is not my fault if you end up with 50 gigs downloaded and 1 uploaded when I crack down on this. You have been warned, don't take advantage of the current, growing environment deeming the lax attitude. It's not a free ride.
Seeding a torrent to 1.0 is not very hard. Really, it isn't. So do it. If you honestly tried and nobody's DLed after a while, seed the next thing more. Or *gasp* up something of your own to share. But an environment of sharing and giving is what we're after. Also, if you DO seed a torrent someone's uploaded, that allows him to upload more music quicker, knowing his previous stuff is well seeded and in good hands. More music is good for everyone.
To those of you this doesn't concern, keep it up. That's most of you.
P.S. Upload moar.
